A great weekend at the Eurocircuit Valkenswaard for another round of RallyX action in the Open4WD class. Despite the challenges we faced, we showed strong performance.
On Saturday, we had some solid qualifying heats. The semi-final also went very well — we managed to take second place after a good start from third on the grid, battling Oliver Eriksson all the way to the finish line. We had to settle for second, but it was a great race.
The Open4WD main final started strong too. With a bold move in turn one, we went from 4th to 3rd. While others were battling, we managed to hold onto 3rd after the joker lap. Unfortunately, on lap 3 we had to park the car due to ALS issues — a big shame, as a home podium finish was within reach against some of the best rallycross drivers.
Sunday didn’t start much better. Overnight, we identified the ALS issue and knew we’d mostly be running without it. In practice, the gearbox failed — but the team did a fantastic job replacing it just in time for Q1. The qualifying heats went well; I won all of my races and posted strong overall times. In Q2 and Q3, I had some great battles with Oli Eriksson.
In the semi-final, we had another great start, taking second place and holding onto it. But in the final, things didn’t go our way. Emergency repairs were needed to the rear-right corner of the car. Thanks to great work by our team — and support from other teams — we just made it to the grid in time.
The start wasn’t ideal, and we were on the back foot. A late puncture meant that 6th place was the best we could manage.
The next RallyX round planned for us with the Ford Focus is at Nysumbanen in Denmark, on August 2–3, 2025.
