Strong performance at RallyX Valkenswaard

A great weekend at the Eurocircuit Valkenswaard for another round of RallyX action in the Open4WD class. Despite the challenges we faced, we showed strong performance. On Saturday, we had some solid qualifying heats. The semi-final also went very well — we managed to take second place after a good start from third on the grid, battling Oliver Eriksson all the way to the finish line. We had to settle for second, but it was a great race. The Open4WD main final started strong too. With a bold move in turn one, we went from 4th to 3rd. While others were battling, we managed to hold onto 3rd after the joker lap. Unfortunately, on lap 3 we had to park the car due to ALS issues — a big shame, as a home podium finish was within reach against some of the best rallycross drivers. Sunday didn’t start much better. Overnight, we identified the ALS issue and knew we’d mostly be running without it. In practice, the gearbox failed — but the team did a fantastic job replacing it just in time for Q1. The qualifying heats went well; I won all of my races and posted strong overall times. In Q2 and Q3, I had some great battles with Oli Eriksson. In the semi-final, we had another great start, taking second place and holding onto it. But in the final, things didn’t go our way. Emergency repairs were needed to the rear-right corner of the car. Thanks to great work by our team — and support from other teams — we just made it to the grid in time. The start wasn’t ideal, and we were on the back foot. A late puncture meant that 6th place was the best we could manage. The next RallyX round planned for us with the Ford Focus is at Nysumbanen in Denmark, on August 2–3, 2025.

VICTORY IN THE MAIN FINAL!!!

Nathan became the first Dutch driver to take victory in the Open 4WD Pro category of RallyX. At the sunday event at the Montalegre track in Portugal, Nathan drove perfectly in the semi-final and final to avoid the carnage and grab the victory. A standout performance in a dramatic final, which was red-flagged following a spectacular crash involving Casper Jansson. “We were lucky enough to get a test session with Kevin Abbring at Valkenswaard before the RallyX season began. That allowed us to make some key changes to the setup, which really helped build my confidence heading into Montalegre. Since then, we’ve only made a few small tweaks—the car’s already performing really well, and that’s a huge boost for what lies ahead. I think the FC2s are a bit quicker than us on the straights, but in the corners I feel we can catch up and even gain time on them” Firmly establishing himself as one to watch, Ottink made no secret of his excitement at being part of the RallyX scene. “The atmosphere this weekend was just amazing. Seeing such a huge crowd turn out for this event—it’s incredible. It really feels like Rallycross is coming alive again, and I’m thrilled to be part of it.”

Class victory on debut RallyX

What a way to start the RallyX campaign. The day went well with solid times in the heats. Our main rival for the class, Oliviera, took himself out in the semi-finals. He therefore couldn’t start in the class final. After a great launch in the final, I could do my laps and bring the O.T.S. Racing Ford Focus Supcar back home in first place. A dream come true! XC win at Valkenswaard

In preperation of the European Autocross championship, where we will compete this year in the CrossCar class, we competed at the opening round of the Dutch Rallycross Championship at the Eurocircuit Valkenswaard. A place I know well and extra meters to prepare myself and the CrossCar for the RallyX and EuroAX season.

Champion trophy received

I received my trophy for winning the 2024 European Championship at the FIA Off-Road Awards gala in Jurmala, Latvia. It was great to see many familiar faces again, as well as to celebrate this moment together with my parents.
